Sandor Ceballos - Physical Education
I am proud and honored to be a part of the distinguished Quarry Lane staff. I am also proud to be starting my third year here at The Quarry Lane School as both middle and lower school P.E. teacher.
I stress the importance of physical education to all my students in all grades and the benefits being active and healthy brings. I also emphasize the importance of qualities such as discipline, sportsmanship, citizenship, toughness and compassion while explaining how sports will help build those qualities. Qualities that will translate in to their everyday lives no matter what path they choose to take.
Jr.K -5th grade PE uses different activities to build skills they will need to become more effective in whatever sport or activity they choose to play. Jr. K activities being the most basic, slowly becoming more difficult and strenuous as the grade gets higher.
Middle school PE is much different than Jr. K - 5th grade PE. Whereas a 5th grade class will have one hour of PE a week, middle school will have almost an hour of PE everyday. We play sports such as soccer, flag football, ultimate frisbee, basketball- to name a few. However, just playing games is not the goal of the class. The goal is to raise the level of physical fitness of all students using sports and exercise. Students will be tested three times a year to show them that their hard work is paying off. Middle school students are also required to dress in QLS PE uniforms, have a positive and encouraging attitude and participate to the very best of their abilities, every class peroid.
My goal ever since coming on board at QLS in 2009 was to be the PE teacher I wished I had growing up. Someone to show the importance of sports and fitness. Someone to be a role model and be able to show me first hand what benefits being active brings to your life. Someone to help me build my confidence at a time I may not be too sure of myself or my own image in my peers' eyes.
I have a passion for fitness and athletics. If any shred of that passion is something one of my students can use to better themselves in any area of their life, I consider that a smashing success!
