Infants and Toddlers
The Quarry Lane School Infant/Toddler Program is offered at the Pleasanton East Campus for children age six weeks to two years. Infant/Toddler rooms have 12 infants/toddlers and a one to four staff to child ratio.
A child's first years are critical to their growth and success in life. Quarry Lane prepares your child for future success with a wide range of learning experiences as they move through many developmental stages.
Infant/Toddler areas of focus include:

The Young Preschool Program (Twos)
The Quarry Lane School program for two-year-olds is offered at the Pleasanton East Campus for children age two years old through three years old. Each two-year-old room has about 16 children and a one to eight staff to child ratio three-fourths of the time. This program balances nurturing and caring with a young child's growing need for structure and independence. Teachers focus on weekly letters of the alphabet and monthly themes to guide children through learning and discovery.
Young preschool lessons include:
- Learning to be independent
- Social development: peer interactions, taking turns, sharing, putting toys away
- Large motor coordination
- Fine Motor Skills
- Eye-hand coordination
- Developing listening skills
- Music and movement activities
- Primary colors
- Number recognition and counting skills
- Introduction to the alphabet
- Art
The Preschool Program (Threes)
Children in our three-year-old program (or older) must be potty trained.
Each three-year-old room has about 22 children and a one to 11 staff to child ratio. Letter recognition, beginning stages of writing, pre-reading skills, concrete math skills, science, and dictation are key areas of focus in this program. Classrooms are set up in activity centers to provide opportunities for children to practice decision-making and self-help skills in a safe, supportive environment.
Preschool lessons include:
- Monthly themes: self awareness, seasons
- Kindness curriculum: feelings, sharing, caring
- Letters of the alphabet and phonics
- Introduction to tracing/writing: letters, numbers and first name
- Math: numbers, shapes, sorting, comparing, measuring, fractions
- Art
- Music class
- Science: discovery and experimentation
- Social studies
- Library visits
- Spanish class
The Pre-kindergarten Program (Fours)
Children in our three-year-old program and higher must be potty trained.
Each four year old room has about 22 children and a one to 11 staff to child ratio. Pre-kindergarten includes guidance in social awareness and understanding others. Language arts focuses on stories, listening and writing skills. Math and science explore basic concepts from those subject areas and music, movement and social studies round out the program. Classrooms are set up in activity centers to provide opportunities for children to practice decision-making and self-help skills in a safe, supportive environment.
Pre-kindergarten lessons include:
- Monthly themes: individuality, self awareness, beginning to take responsibility
- Kindness curriculum: feelings, sharing, caring
- Personal journal
- Language arts: letters, phonics, writing, listening for details and sequence
- Beginning reading: sight words, rhyming words, blending, sentence structure
- Math: shapes, sorting, numbers, ordering, graphing, patterns, comparisons, beginning addition and subtraction
- Art
- Music class
- Science: our environment, physical principles
- Social Studies: weather, living things, safety, the senses, American history, the seasons
- Spanish class
- Computer class
- Library visits
